Free Choice Reading strives to instill life-long reading skills by offering time to read self-selected books. Fewer full-class novels are read in the English classroom to gain personal reading time. In 2010-2011 students rediscovered their love of reading, resulting increased library check-out and summer reading. Staff also observed that students now choose reading when they have free time. Students are talking about books, recommending books to others, and continue to read. September and October 2012 each set new circulation records.
