Integrating Technology
Library and Technology staff are ready to help you create new projects that integrate technology into the curriculum. Let us help you locate and organize internet links for your class assignments, build a pageor a webquest for a class, or just add some excitement to a lesson.
Library Use
We are ready to work with you when you would like to bring a class into the library.
Students are always welcome to come in to check out books for Free Choice Reading
If the class is only selecting reading materials, little planning is needed. We may still need to close the library for a large group and appreciate a notice 2 days in advance to announce the closing.
When planning for research projects, please see Mrs. Eloranta one week in advance so that we can identify Information and Technology skills that need to be taught, prepare checklists for sources, integrate the learning with the new Common Core Standards tailor projects to accommodate new resources. Also bring a copy of your class lists to share.
Free Choice Reading
Free Choice Reading strives to instill life-long reading skills by offering time to read self-selected books. Fewer full-class novels are read in the English classroom to gain personal reading time. In 2010-2011 students rediscovered their love of reading, resulting in an increase in library check-out and summer reading. Staff also observed that students now choose reading when they have free time. At this time circulation in 2011-2012 is on pace with last year.
